Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 17, 2026

Budget3 respects your privacy. This policy explains what information is collected, why, and how it is protected. It applies to budget3.ca and app.budget3.ca, and complies with Québec's Law 25 and PIPEDA.

1. Who is responsible

Budget3 is responsible for the personal information it holds. For any question, or a request to access, correct or delete your information: [email protected].

2. Information collected

Account: email address, display name, and — if you sign in with Google or Apple — the basic profile information from that provider (name, email, picture).

Budget data: the income, commitments, accounts, balances, goals and net worth statements you enter. This information comes from you, never from a bank.

Technical data: authentication and activity logs (IP address, device type, timestamp) kept for security and troubleshooting.

Preferences: language, currency, favourite budget.

3. What Budget3 never collects

No banking credentials, no financial institution passwords, no real bank transactions, no social insurance number, no credit card number. Budget3 does not connect to your bank accounts.

4. How information is used

Providing the Service: authentication, storing your budgets, calculations and projections.

Security: detecting unauthorized access, audit logs.

Communication: essential account emails (confirmation, password reset). No promotional email without your consent.

Improvement: technical diagnostics and aggregate statistics, never tied to an identifiable person.

Your budget data is never sold, rented or used for advertising.

5. Signing in with Google or Apple

If you sign in with Google or Apple, Budget3 receives only the basic profile information needed to create the account (identifier, email address, name, picture). Budget3 accesses no other data from those accounts — no email, no contacts, no files — and posts nothing to them.

6. Hosting and processors

Data is hosted on secure servers and travels over encrypted HTTPS. Budget3 relies on infrastructure providers (hosting, database, authentication, transactional email) that act only on its instructions. Some of those providers may process data outside Québec; appropriate contractual protections are then required.

7. Retention

Your data is kept while your account is active. When the account is deleted, data is removed from active systems, then from backups following the usual rotation cycle. Security logs may be kept for up to twelve months.

8. Your rights

At any time you can: access your information, correct it, request its deletion, withdraw your consent, or request portability in a structured format. Write to [email protected]; a response is provided within 30 days.

You may also file a complaint with Québec's Commission d'accès à l'information.

9. Cookies

The budget3.ca website uses a language preference cookie (budget3.lang) required for the site to work. Analytics (Google Analytics) is enabled only after your explicit consent: until you accept, no analytics cookie is stored and no data is sent. Your choice is kept in your browser for six months, then you are asked again. You can change it at any time through the “Cookies” link in the footer. The application uses cookies and local storage required for authentication and preferences. No advertising cookies or third-party profiling trackers are used.

10. Privacy incidents

In the event of an incident presenting a risk of serious injury, affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information will be notified promptly, as required by Law 25.

11. Minors

The Service is not intended for children under 14. No information is knowingly collected from them.

12. Changes

This policy may be updated. The update date appears at the top of the page; significant changes will be communicated to registered users.
